Camp Eureka! Developing Simulated Biology Software for Science Labs
(Residential Camp)

Date: Summer 2010 - specific dates to be determined
Location: Montana Conservation Science Institute, Missoula, MT
Age of Students: 12-18
Cost: To be determined
Accommodations:Tents – Montana Conservation Science Institute
Activities:This summer we will recruit skilled and highly motivated blind students from Montana and across the country to work with Dr. Ellie Steinberg at the University of Montana to develop simulated biology “lab” software for middle, high school and college level students. These interactive labs engineered with cutting edge technology will help ensure that students who are blind or dyslexic, or have mobility or other sensory disabilities have access to the same science lessons and concepts as their fellow classmates. The model that Camp Eureka! students help develop will be evaluated in 2011 by NFB Youth Slam students. We’ll also have fun with hands-on field explorations and research, and, of course there will be ample opportunity for cooking, eating, relaxing, swimming, chatting and being a little crazy.
